How can we be more sustainable?

Why should we all try to be a bit more sustainable?
There are a plethora of reasons as to why we should be a bit more sustainable in our day-to-day lives. Whilst the actions of a sole, singular person won’t make a great deal of difference in the grand scheme of things, if we all took small steps to change our behaviours and actions, real change can be made!

Environmental Benefits
To begin, being more sustainable means that we can conserve the natural resources of the earth. We can also reduce pollution, which in turn protects habitats for plants and wild animals alike, in addition to combating climate change.

Social Benefits
Being more sustainable can improve your quality of life! Sustainable practices create a healthier, safer, and more productive environment. Furthermore, you can also strengthen communities through sustainable practices, improving the quality of life, and providing hope for a better future. On a much wider scale, the creation of smart homes and ‘walkable cities’ also improves quality of life.

Economic Benefits
Building in an environmentally friendly way can lead to a reduction in bill costs because less energy will be spent on central heating.

How can you be more sustainable?
We’ve spoken about the benefits of being sustainable, but we haven’t (yet) touched upon how we can be sustainable. But not to fret! We’ve got some tips on how you can make little changes to be just that bit more sustainable!

Food – Eat more sustainable foods, such as fruit & vegetables, as well as buying less meat and dairy products.

Transport – Where possible, drive less and use public transport more. If you can afford it, consider buying an electric or hybrid car.

Household – Use energy-efficient light bulbs such as LEDs, and turn them off when not in use. When purchasing a new appliance, be sure to check the ‘Energy Performance Certificate’ and aim for one with a rating of ‘D’ or higher. Remember, the higher the rating, the more energy-efficient it will be!

What are Jardak doing to be more sustainable?
There are many ways we at Jardak Hygiene are sustainable.

To begin, we’re a Net Zero company – meaning that we balance out any negative emissions by reducing them as much as possible and offsetting any remaining emissions through a variety of other methods.

Our fleet of vehicles are fully electric or hybrid – reducing the number of emissions produced when we travel across the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and North London area.

We use low-impact chemical dispensing systems, in addition to no aerosols – this means that any cleaning products out team of expert cleaners produce aren’t re-entering the environment and causing damage after we’ve finished with them.

We are ISO:14001 accredited – we don’t just say we’re sustainable, it’s an official thing!
